Lighting Design

JAMES F. INGALLS (lighting designer) makes his San Francisco Symphony debut with these performances. His work with Peter Sellars spans forty-two years, and he has created many productions with Esa-Pekka Salonen including Perséphone and The Gospel According to the Other Mary at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Tristan und Isolde at Paris Opera, and the world premieres of Kaija Saariaho’s L’Amour de Loin and Adriana Mater at the Salzburg Festival and Paris Opera. He has designed many productions for San Francisco Ballet and American Conservatory Theater. For San Francisco Opera, he designed Girls of the Golden West and The Death of Klinghoffer. Recent projects include All Tharp! with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Fidelio with Los Angeles Philharmonic and Deaf West Theatre, Raymonda with Dutch National Ballet, Le Roman de Fauvel with Théâtre du Châtelet, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music revival of Mark Morris’s L’Allegro, Il peneroso ed Il Moderato. Mr. Ingalls also often collaborates with The Wooden Floor dancers in Santa Ana, CA.
