Privacy Statement

Welcome to the official Web site of the San Francisco Symphony (“Site”). We have created this Site to provide information about the San Francisco Symphony, its concerts and special events, to fulfill ticket requests, and to accept contributions. The San Francisco Symphony is committed to protecting the privacy of certain information we collect when you access the Site. This Privacy Statement(“Statement”) describes our policies and practices regarding how we collect, use, and disclose information that you submit or that we obtain in connection with your use of this Site.

Information We Collect.

To help us achieve these purposes in a manner that is convenient for you, we collect two types of information from visitors to our Site: anonymous usage information and personal information you may provide to us when you register through the Site.   Information we gather and how we use it is presented here. The San Francisco Symphony is committed to using reasonable best efforts to ensure the privacy of all our visitors.

Our web servers may passively or automatically track usage information from these visits, such as information provided by your device or browser, but on an entirely anonymous basis. This usage information is general data about how visitors use our Site, which pages are most frequently visited, which web sites most frequently refer visitors to our Site, and how long patrons spend on our Site.

While we may collect your usage by logging your IP address, we do not associate this information with you as an individual.  Nor do we otherwise monitor this information on an individual basis. Instead, we aggregate this usage information and use it to monitor broad usage trends, to evaluate the effectiveness of the Site's design and improve its overall usability.

We may perform, or have third parties perform, analyses of visitors' behavior, and may share aggregated data with sponsors and advertisers, again on an entirely anonymous basis.

Personal information is any data related to the personal identity of a visitor to our Site. A customer's name, address, phone number, credit card number, e-mail address, and purchase history are all examples of personal information.

We do not require visitors to provide any personal information in order to browse our Site or to obtain general information on our organization. We do, however, require users to register and provide personal information in order to purchase tickets, request a brochure or other information, or make contributions.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Statement at any time. In the event we make material changes to the Statement, we will provide notice through the Site. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Site and will apply to your use of the Site after the “effective date” listed above. If you have any questions or concerns about the Statement, please contact us using the information provided below.

How We Use and Disclose Your Personal Information.

In general, we collect and use personal information in order to carry out our business functions and provide a high quality of service. Certain personal information is used to fulfill your request and to provide a record of your transaction. It is stored by the San Francisco Symphony and/or our information systems providers, and used again in subsequent visits only if you wish to make another purchase, make a contribution, or have an inquiry. Until that point your return visit is anonymous as only logging in triggers personal recognition on our Site.

We also use personal information from registrants to add to or update our postal mailing lists and telephone lists for season schedules, special offers, and general information. We may also use personal information to evaluate our registrants' usage and transactions, and to analyze how we can make the Site more effective and interesting for you.

In general, we will not disclose your personal information for any purposes other than those in conjunction with the business, donation, or similar activities requested of us unless otherwise permitted or required by law or by this Statement. In the course of our normal business activities, we may disclose collected information to both affiliates and non-affiliated entities, as we deem necessary. For example, and without limitation, we may need to use or disclose this information with our third-party vendors to manage its website, respond to subpoenas, defend litigation, enhance our services, and protect our legal rights. We endeavor to choose affiliates and non-affiliates with similar standards to ours regarding the protection of personal information.

Periodically, we provide registrants with important last-minute information and exclusive offers via e-mail you provided to us, such as street closures, program and guest artist changes, special offers, information from our sponsors, and notification of special events. When this or any other new function becomes available to our patrons, you will have the opportunity to opt-out of receiving such e-mail updates should you wish to do so.

We do not solicit personal information from people known to be children.

Donor Information.

We value the privacy of our donors. We will not sell, trade, or share the personal information of donors. This applies both to donor information that is collected or received online through our Site or donor information received through offline contributions. We will also not send mailings to donors on behalf of other organizations. To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation. Note that we may use your information, as described above, if you also provide your information in a capacity other than as a donor, such as buying tickets.
