Soprano

Soprano Elisa Sunshine made house debuts with San Francisco Opera as Shepherd Boy in Puccini’s Tosca and returned as Flower/Lady-in-Waiting in Dream of the Red Chamber. Her 2022–23 engagements with the company include Sister Gertrude in Dialogues of the Carmelites and Annina in La Traviata. As a 2019 participant in the Merola Opera Program, she created the role of Selena in the world premiere of Jake Heggie’s If I Were You. She also sang Marie in a scene from Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment on the War Memorial Opera House stage as part of the Merola Grand Finale.

Previous engagements include Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel with Regina Opera; Musetta in La Bohème with Regina Opera and MassOpera; Elizabeth Christine in The Sorrows of Frederick with Center for Contemporary Opera; Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos with Lowell House Opera; Queen of the Night with Portland Opera To Go and Brevard Music Center; and Madame White Snake in Naga with New England Conservatory, ArtsEmerson, and Beth Morrison Projects.

A California native, Ms. Sunshine received degrees from New England Conservatory and DePauw University. This week’s performances mark her San Francisco Symphony debut.
